Hello all! Welcome to the new and improved webpage for the University of Tennessee Dance Society! Here you will find information on Dance Society and BOSS Dance Company!

Below is information on how Dance Society and BOSS Dance Company came to be:

The Dance Society is a student run organization at the University of Tennessee aimed at promoting dance and dance education throughout the UT campus and surrounding Knoxville area. Students used to be able to major in Dance at UT. In the course of renovations to the University and various budget cuts over the years, the University slowly began to phase out the dance program and cut back on rehearsal space for the dancers.

By the mid 2000s only a dance minor remained. In 2008, the University cut the Dance Department due to budget cuts. Unwilling to let the spirit of dance die, the Dance Society took on the task of preserving dance on campus and providing students with both technique classes and performance opportunities through the BOSS Dance Company. Boss Dance Company consists of UT students from all different backgrounds. The Company represents what true determination and motivation can bring.

The Dance Society is free and open to all UT students. If you would like to join simply email your name and netID to dance@utk.edu !
